The Tri-State Expo Exceeds Expectation with Over 600 Attendees!
The 2008 Tri State Educational Conference & Expo, hosted by the New Jersey, Delaware Valley, and Southern New Jersey Chapters, had over 600 attendees and more than 90 exhibitors! In addition to numerous educational sessions which included Affordable Housing, Green Strategies in New Construction, Effective Time Management and Delivering Power Packed Presentations, this year IREM extended an invitation to local ODIEs to conduct an ODIE visit with attending
IREM President, Reggie Mullins, CPM.
As a result of this collaborative effort between the chapters, the attendees learned about critical industry issues while networking with real estate professional throughout the region. Industry Partners jumped at the opportunity to promote their business to the attendees during the Industry Partner Expo, the evening “Mix & Mingle” and the networking breakfast. The support from conference sponsors continues to grow and this event is one of the largest revenue sources for the participating chapters. In addition to the Tri-State Expo, the chapters frequently host joint chapter meetings to extend this networking benefit for the members.

Analysis of the Energy Independence and Security Act
Due to the direction the federal government is taking on energy conservation, it is important for us to understand what effect it will have on real estate managers and owners. You may have heard that the President signed a new energy bill, the "Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007," into law. The law contains a section of particular interest to real estate professionals: the High Performance Commercial Buildings section. IREM legislative staff analyzed the new law in a concise briefing paper and posted it on the IREM website.
